With TASTE coming up very shortly, we thought we’d continue with the foodie theme. Have you ever tried BUBBLE TEA? The word ‘tea’ is probably slightly deceiving; it’s definitely a long way from your typical cup of earl grey. So find out what it’s all about.
Bubble tea originated in Taiwan in the 1980’s and has since developed into a craze. In Asia, bubble tea cafes are on every corner and slowly we are following suit.
Bubble tea is a refreshing drink that can be fruit based or milk based and served either hot or cold. It’s filled with soft little bubbles similar to the texture of gummy bears called tapioca balls. They are sometimes referred to as ‘pearls’ or ‘boba’. You drink them through a purposely large straw and they burst once you bite into them. Fantastically fruity BUT also very addictive. They are strangely filling, like a drink and snack rolled into one! Would you try it?
For more information or to try bubble tea check out Bubbleology in Soho, London.
