Last night was the beginning of the spectacular EDF light show, which will continue on the London eye each evening throughout the Olympics and Paralympics.
It seems that as a nation we love to tweet and have much to say about The Games. Between 20,000 and 60,000 tweets have been posted each day since the beginning of the Olympic Torch Relay. EDF have developed a clever algorithm to analyse the tweets and filter them into positive or negative ones. The results are then converted into a light show on the London Eye. Each night, the show varies depending on how the tweeters feel. The mood is chartered throughout the day on a large LED screen next to the London Eye. Officially named the ‘Energy of the Nation’ certain colors reflect certain moods. Purple is negative, yellow positive and green neutral.
